ACROSS THE SANDHILLS | WINTER 2008

Across the Sandhills is the quarterly newsletter of Sustainable Sandhills. Our goal is to recognize and promote sustainable action by local organizations, volunteer groups and citizens of the Sandhills Region

SustAInable Sandhills Family Grows

We are pleased to announce the addition of three new staff members to the Sustainable Sandhills family.

 

Heather Brown, Busines Development Specialist

Heather Brown is serving as the SS Business Development Specialist. Heather most recently served as Director of Planning for Hoke County. She will work toward developing and implementing a membership program to increase awareness of and participation in the initiatives of SS. Heather will be conducting speaking engagements in the civic, governmental and industrial communities as well as attending events across the SS eight county region.

Heather will also be responsible for marketing SS. Creating brochures, newsletters, press releases, community announcements, documentation of accomplishments and maintaining visibility within our region are just some of the ways she will use to promote our organization.

A native of Moore County, Heather lives with her husband, Chris, in Southern Pines, along with their two labs, Lexi and Sophie. They enjoy water sports, hockey and Clemson football. Heather is a self-taught gardener and loves to do just about anything that will cause her to have to scrape dirt from under her fingernails.


Jodi Hojosy, Green Business Program Coordinator

Jodi Hajosy is serving as one of our Green Business Program (GBP) Coordinators. As a part-time employee, her focus ise centered on the GBP . She will be responsible for the development and administration of the Program across the eight counties that Sustainable Sandhills serves. She has years of experience in Industrial Occupational and Environmental programs, and we are fortunate to have her on staff to develop and administer the GBP.

Jodi holds a BS in Environmental Health, with minors in Biology and Safety Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and an MS in Occupational and Environmental Health from the University of Arkansas. Jodi is fluent in Spanish, having studied at the Defense Language Institute and La Escuela Official de Idiomas in Spain.

Jodi is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but has lived all over the country and world. She and her husband, Steve, currently live in the historic Haymount district of Fayetteville with their children, Yuri (8), Max (4) and Elizabeth (2).
