Community Action TEam (CAt) FAq's
- Who is part of a Community Action Team?
Everyone! Residents, Elected Officials, Local Professionals, and anyone interested in making your community a more sustainable place to live, work, or play!
- What are the benefits?
A broad range of issues from each county can be addressed by a single CAT. The diversity of participants provides an opportunity for new partnerships between local government staff, other nonprofit and faith-based initiatives, and community residents.
- How will this help to create regional connections and a regional identity?
Sharing successes and lessons-learned across county and other jurisdictional lines is an important benefit of creating and participating in you county's Community Action Teams. We're all in this together - and while there are important differences between the communities in our region, we share much in common!

What is a community action Team?
A Community Action Team (CAT) is a forum for people with ideas and concerns related to all aspects of sustainability - economic, environmental, and quality of life. Team meetings provide a venue for community members to identify important issues and develop projects and programs to act on their concerns.
The outcome of a meeting includes:
- Increased awareness of current projects in local communities.
- Opportunities for champions within the community to help move existing projects forward or start new projects.
- Education and training about important sustainability issues.
Sustainable Sandhills supports Community Action Teams by:
- Facilitating meetings.
- Providing community resources.
- Advocating with all levels of government.
- Linking community members to other organizations (government, non-government, and nonprofits), especially Fort Bragg.
- Providing project ideas and expertise.
- Promoting the Team's accomplishments to larger audiences (region, state and federal).
