Strategic Sustainability Assessment (SSA)

Symposium

On March 12, at the Holiday Inn-Bordeaux in Fayetteville, the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), located in Champaign, IL, hosted a symposium to introduce local planners and government officials to a discussion regarding the future sustainability of the region around Ft. Bragg.

Harnett County Recycling Task Force

Sue Zislis, a Sustainable Sandhills member and the leader of the Harnett County Recycling Task Force (HRTF), presented the HRTF final report to the Board of Commissioners at their meeting on February 18.

Fayetteville Recycling Task Force

    The City of Fayetteville's new curbside recycling program will begin on July 1, 2008!  Thanks to the citizens who supported the effort, the City Council for their vote, and the Recycling Task Force for their dedication and hard work! 

We're advocates for a ZERO WASTE region, and every path to that goal requires your participation in our programs.  

Help us promote Recycling and other natural resource stewardship initiatives in the Sandhills!

  1. Estimate the average volume of your waste stream.  For example:  Overflowing roll-out cart, full roll-out cart, partially full roll-out cart.
  2. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  3. Track your progress weekly.
  4. Keep track of the innovative ways you Reduced, Reused and Recycled, so we can share them with others.
